SysAdmin Day

So did your office recognize Systems Administrator Appreciation Day? Unfortunately, some of our own IS folks didn’t know it was today until our network admin wished them a happy sysadmin day first thing this morning. Later, when I brought in donuts, he was happy to see that someone else remembered. 🙂

We did manage to get a mention in the weekly firm update on the intranet as well, so that right there is more than I got when I was the whole IT depratment!

  • Why yes it is..

Yup, that’s a fresh, new Movable Type installation over at that new domain. Really wasn’t all that difficult and didn’t take too long, considering I was only working on it while waiting for actual work processes to finish and would have to stop every 5 minutes or so. 🙂 I guess if it had my…

  • Not today…

Naturally when I arrived in the office this morning, my own website was down, email servers and everything. Not a good way to start the day, but about 30 minutes later it seems to be back in working order again. Whew! I did, yesterday, get the old comments exported from YACCS and after some clean…

  • I knew this would happen

I knew someday that having the one person who works at the company that donates their internet connection to us and understood how it was setup, leave was going to cause problems. Turns out the reason we couldn’t connect to the email server is that they changed the internal IP address of the mail server…
