Problems, problems

So the laptops were all set to roll out today. The guys using the current ones had PS/2 keyboard and/or mice attached to their old ones, and since these new ones don’t have a PS/2 port, I went out yesterday and picked up a couple of Belkin USB Dual PS/2 adapters. The package comes with just the adapter and a nice “No drivers needed” message. When I hook it up to the laptop, I get an unrecognized USB device error and when I look at it further, it asks me to install the driver for this new hardware. That’s what I like, nice and simple peripherals!

Day 2 of Gnomedex today. Watched Chris get all jazzed about RSS. That was sort of cool. Skipped the Zone Labs session on security because I needed to plug in the laptop. It seems to have some difficulty with being run on battery power. Hope it’s not a sign of more hardware problems! Met JR…

  • You and end-users

Interesting little article about dealing with end-users, full of stories about miscommunication between end-users and IT folks. I would have to agree with the conclusion: “Often, end users blame IT for network or computer problems, simply because they don’t know what goes on behind the scene and what causes problems. But sometimes, miscommunication on the…

Not that I was the one looking, but if you’re going to be surfing for a new job while at your current job, don’t go to the Bank One Careers page! On top of adding nothing to the page, the Flash animation comes complete with a soundtrack. Your co-workers, or even your boss, might stop…
