Random Notes

Beth is back blogging at a new locale. Those of you who were at Gnomedex last year know who Beth is, since she spoke. The rest of you will just have to go this year and meet her. (Thanks to Doc for the pointer.)

Speaking of Gnomedex 3, I also see where Scoble’s going to be there this year. He’s been stirring up a bunch of really interesting techie/business stuff over on his blog lately, you should be reading it. I’m still holding out some hope that I’ll make it to Iowa this year, and I’ll get to sit and talk to Robert about some of his ideas. 🙂

Karlin Lillington agrees with me:

“Hmmmm, well, whatever about Google News, it seems to me that a lot of newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations also routinely publish/broadcast items that are basically just rewritten, unquestioned press releases and government statements, which also aren’t clearly distinguished from ‘actual’ news articles…”

Exactly! (link snagged from Dave Winer)

Ok, gotta run, lots of things on my plate today, so I better get to it!

“Today should be a little bit of a back to normal day” Yeah I should have known better than to say that. I blame the lack of sleep last night for that momentary lack of common sense. I’d forgotten just how new a couple of my fellow employees are and how many things they haven’t…

Or, Free at last, free at last, everything over there is NLMP. (No longer my problem!) Yes, it’s true. Looking back it’s…

So I’m giving Mailwasher a trial run, to see how it handles spam and stuff. My first impression is that it’s fairly cool, just having the ability to bounce emails is going to be fun. But the big functionality, at least to me, is the promised support for Hotmail accounts that’s coming in the next…

  • Somebody’s screwed..

Given just the vast number of virus emails that hit one of our users’ inboxes this morning, I would guess that someone he knows managed to get a virus. But upon further inspection, and the realization that there are copies of Klez, Hybris, and maybe some other one’s floating around in those messages, I’m thinking…

  • Terminations

I was listening to the latest In The Trenches earlier today, and found myself nodding my head in agreement when Kevin was talking about knowing someone’s being let go and having to disable accounts as it’s happening. It is easily one of the worst parts of the job. It’s a sickening feeling knowing someone’s going…
