Linked: This World Password Day Diligently Review your Passwords

    ByMike McBride May 8, 2020May 8, 2020 Reading Time: 1 minute

I’m a day late on this, but didn’t want to let it go without mentioning the day, and the importance of better password management. Several times people choose easy-to-remember passwords rather than focusing on security. With the rising concerns over data breaches and troves of usernames and passwords being dumped on the dark web every…

Quick Thought – Staffing Idea You Can Steal

    ByMike McBride May 6, 2020May 7, 2020 Reading Time: 1 minute

There have been over 30 million people in the US who’ve lost their jobs in that last couple of months. I know more than a few. I’m sure you do too, if you aren’t one yourself.

I’m sure many of them live in towns where it’s going to be difficult to find anything equivalent, small cities like where I live in Baton Rouge, or even larger cities where the worked in a smaller industry.

I’m sure we are all becoming more and more aware of how much of our “work” can get done even if we aren’t in the same office space very often.

Some smart company is going to put that together and be able to pick a veritable All-Star lineup of talented professionals just by offering them the opportunity to stay where they are.

If you are a hiring manager, go ahead and steal that idea. It’s not a new one, but it’s maybe even more powerful right at this time.

Linked: Game Of (Internet) Life: How Social Media Reacts To Questionable News

    ByMike McBride May 4, 2020May 4, 2020 Reading Time: 3 minutes

I thought this look at how the news about someone’s death spread, and then became questionable, is very interesting. The thing that jumped out at me, which I’ve talked about before, is the likelihood that by linking to an old article about the person’s life, suddenly the tweet became more legitimate in some eyes due…

Linked: Coronavirus: Managers impressed by workers’ productivity at home

    ByMike McBride May 1, 2020May 1, 2020 Reading Time: 1 minute

It’s a UK survey, but the results do not surprise me. “A survey of more than 1,000 UK office workers by Hoxby, a virtual agency and consultancy firm, also suggests managers have been pleasantly surprised by teams’ performance from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. 52% of leaders said workers had even been more productive than…

And You May Ask Yourself How do we Open?

    ByMike McBride April 30, 2020April 30, 2020 Reading Time: 4 minutes

With apologies to the Talking Heads for altering a song lyric, this is the question going forward for law firms. When we can go back to the office, how do we do that? What does it look like? To be honest, I don’t know. Yes, there’s been chatter like this: Policies are also being developed…
