Back in the office

Playing catch up after being gone for the funeral. Hundreds of items in Bloglines to look at, dozens of emails to answer, a few work issues that need resolved immediately, probably a handful of podcasts to get caught up on, etc.

I’m still glad I was able to go be with Angela and her family though, so I won’t complain about the need to get caught up now. It’s all part of what needed to be done and I was more than happy to do whatever she needed at this time.

One nice suprise when I returned was a copy of the Miller’s Farm CD that had arrived at the office in my absence. I grew up with the band’s namesake, Bryan Miller, and it’s a pretty good CD, IMHO. Check out the samples. 🙂

I have a question. If you’re a tech recruiter, or know a tech recruiter can you help me out? I want to know, when you’re a tech recruiter, why do you contact people without even looking at their resume first, and why do you lie about the job you’re calling about? Seriously, last week I…

As a corporate customer of CDW they created a little extranet for me to use to keep track of quotes and purchases and all of that sort of stuff. One of the really neat things is that there’s a tab I can click to see if my account rep or any of the “specialists” assigned…

Yup, all those tips, ideas, solutions, and general tech information that…

  • Libraries and technology

Over lunch today, which is the usual slice of time I take for podcast listening, I couldn’t help but perk my ears up to a couple of mentions about libraries and technology. First, the obvious one, Chuck Tomasi’s interview with the director of the Appleton Public Library, Terry Dawson. Terry and Chuck discussed Appleton’s growing…

  • It’s still around

File this under the headline of “old hoaxes never die”. I’ve been dealing with the jdbgmgr.exe hoax this morning. Apparently, someone with another organization fell for this one and passed it on. You should see the “to” line of the email. There are more addresses there than I care to even guess at. Let me…
