Blogger Stats has been unleashed on the world. Currently only available for BlogSpot Plus users, but they hope to have it available to others soon. I’d be interested to see how it works out for anyone using it!
Sun announced this week that they are going to roll out a Linux desktop system. It seems to be a somewhat scaled back version of a PC though, as they even admit in the article, and are only targeting places like call centers where you don’t need the full functionality of a PC. Interesting, I’m not sure that it’ll work, but it’s interesting. I have doubts because it’s going to require a different set of skills to use than regular PC skills, making your search for call-center employees a little more complicated, and your training costs a little bit higher. Daypop’s site says it’s still out of service, but I’m getting stuff from the Top 40 XML feed. It must be getting close to being operational again, yay!
Microsoft is rolling out it’s own home networking stuff. They’ve got a (deserved) bad reputation on security but having 802.11b with 128-bit WEP set on by default is about the most you could expect from home wireless, isn’t it? It’s not 100% secure, I realize, but there aren’t really any wireless networks that are. It’s nice to see them make the security of the network the priority of a new product rollout for a change though! 🙂
Lastly, Josh’s comment about his blog loading time, and Scoble’s efforts at a site that is more standards based has me thinking of changing a few things around here, but I simply don’t have the time to do that right now. So if the site loads slowly for you, or you just hate the tables, grab a free news aggregator and read the blog from the XML feed. OK? I’ll let you know when I have time to play around with the layout.
